LaSala Miguel Hernández is a theatre facility located in Sabadell devoted to the creation, production and distribution of shows for children, with an innovative and quality programme open to all genres and disciplines.

This ambitious project is an initiative of Grup Rialles, with the support of the Institut Català de les Indústries Culturals (Catalan Institute of Cultural Industries) (ICIC), the Departament de Benestar Social i Família (Social Welfare and Family Department) of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Autonomous Government), the Instituto Nacional de las Artes Escénicas y de la Música (National Institute of Performing Arts and Music) of the Spanish Ministry of Culture and the Obra Social (Welfare Projects) of “la Caixa”.

Since its opening in October 2006 until the end of the 2014-2015 season, more than 125,000 spectators have come to LaSala. Likewise, a large number of Catalan companies and companies from all over Spain and other countries like France, Italy, Belgium, Germany, India and Quebec have also performed there.

LaSala proposes six lines of work:

A stable programme for family audiences

It offers a high quality programme for family audiences, with music, theatre, dance shows and other genres. With this selection of proposals we wish to enrich the imaginary of new performing arts audiences, open the door to their emotions and educate them.

L’escola al teatre (School at the Theatre)

L’escola al teatre is a programme designed for the pupils of preschool, primary and secondary education, with shows that are appropriate for the maturity characteristics of the age group for which they have been designed.

LaSala surt de LaSala (LaSala comes out of LaSala)

LaSala is located in the Ca n’Oriac neighbourhood in Sabadell, where the programme is performed regularly, but its activities include other performing arts facilities of the city such as the Teatre Principal, La Faràndula or L’Estruch.

Support for creation

LaSala is the unique performing arts facility of the country devoted to children’s and youth audiences that, in addition to current shows, is also devoted to the production of them. It has an in-residence programme for the companies working in this area.

El més petit de tots (The Youngest of All)

The festival "El més petit de tots" presents each year a selection of international, unique proposals created for very young children, those aged from 0 to 5 ears old. This year, the festival, which celebrates its 11th edition, will be held from November 7 to 22, 2015.

National and international synergies

The collaboration agreements with other theatres such as the Unicorn Theatre in London make it possible for us to present at LaSala shows that are very interesting from an artistic point of view and that it would be very hard for us to manage alone.

In addition to this, LaSala actively participates in Mira! (Network of Spanish Theatres for Children and the Youth) and in Small Size (European Network for the Diffusion and Development of the Performing Arts for Early Childhood).
